Pictures of the Day: Rashad Evans and famous people
As Rashad Evans trained for this Saturday's title bout with Jon Jones, something about his camp attracted famous people.
Rashad Evans shared this picture of when football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin dropped by their camp. Do you think they're discussing the draft position of Chandler Jones?
During a trip to Puerto Rico, Evans met up with boxing legend Felix Trinidad. It was pretty rude to punch the camera, gentlemen.
Here, Evans is with Victoria Azarenka, the No. 1 ranked tennis player in the world and the winner of the 2012 Australian Open. As shown on "Primetime," he also was in the stands for one of her matches.
Before Evans' UFC 133 bout with Tito Ortiz, he picked up striking tips from another boxing legend. What advice do you thin Bernard Hopkins had for Evans?

Is Jon Jones what ?Greatness Is??
In hyping up the UFC 145 championship bout between Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, the UFC has started a campaign called, "Greatness Is." You may have seen their ad with Evans talking about why he pushes himself to fight. Now, they released this video of Jones showing what greatness is.
Note: Lyoto Machida and Quinton Jackson both defended the light heavyweight belt since Chuck Liddell. Nonetheless, Jones' quick ascent to the top of the 205-lb. heap has been impressive. Will Evans stop him on Apr. 21? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Jon Jones is the next Muhammad Ali? UFC Magazine thinks so
For the latest edition of UFC Magazine, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was posed underwater in his fighting stance. The picture pays homage to a famous picture of Muhammad Ali.
Though it may seem early in Jones' MMA career to make comparisons to Ali, it's not too early for this picture. Flip Schulke took this iconic picture of Ali in 1961. It was just a year after Ali, still called Cassius Clay, won Olympic gold in Rome. He was a young man who was astonishing the boxing world with his power, speed and footwork. At the time, he was like no other boxer. In the early 60s, he won 19 straight bouts and seemed invincible. Does that remind you of anyone?

Official: Alessi Fiberglass brings the AR-1 supercar to market... 33 years later
Filed under: Coupe, Performance, Videos, MISC
Automakers aren't the only ones who produce concept cars. So do design studios, contract manufacturers, racing teams and even component suppliers. Case in point: Alessi Fiberglass. Back in 1979, the company displayed a supercar concept called the AR-1 at the New York Auto Show. The idea, it would seem, was to show off what they could do with fiberglass. Nobody ever expected they'd build it. And they didn't. At least, not until now.
33 years later, Alessi has resurrected the AR-1, modernized it, and brought it to market. In place of the original show car's Buick V6 is a mid-mounted, supercharged a 6.2-liter Corvette V8 making up to 600 horsepower. Not enough? Alessi also offers a twin-turbo version with 750 horsepower on tap.
The AR-1's steel frame is covered with, of course, fiberglass bodywork. Pricing has not been revealed, and Alessi says it will build no more than 50 examples. In addition to the attached photo gallery, you can take a closer look in the video clip posted after the jump.

Weekend warriors: Amoussou, Rickels stand out at Bellator and Iaquinta wins on TUF
Join Cagewriter for a look around the MMA world's weekend happenings.
Amoussou, Rickels shine at Bellator
Karl Amoussou moved on to the Bellator welterweight semifinals with a rear naked choke just two minutes into his bout with Chris Lozano. David Rickels wasted no time, knocking out Jordan Smith in just 22 seconds. Ben Saunders tried every submission in the book, but couldn't finish Raul Amaya on the way to a unanimous decision win. Bryan Baker, who was once a finalist in the Bellator middleweight tournament, won a less-than-thrilling split decision over Carlos Pereira.
Al Iaquinta stops Team Cruz
On "The Ultimate Fighter," Team Faber was in desperate need of a win. It came in the form of a three-round split-decision win over Myles Jury. Both Jury and Iaquinta were supposed to appear on earlier seasons of TUF, but injuries kept them off the show.
In their bout, Jury started strong with kicks in the first round. He tried for a choke late in the round, but couldn't secure it. Iaquinta pressed forward in several exchanges as he took a close second round. Since they were tied after two, Iaquinta and Jury went to a third round. Iaquinta came on strong in the third round, swarming Jury with strikes as he pushed ahead to win the final round.
With that, Team Faber won their first bout of the season and the next fight pick. On Friday, Michael Chiesa will represent Team Faber against Jeremy Larsen of Team Cruz.

Picture of the day: UFC 146 heavyweights gather for drug tests
Six fighters from the all-heavyweight main card of UFC 146 gathered in Las Vegas for a press conference on Tuesday. According to HD Net's Ron Kruck, the Nevada Athletic Commission took advantage of all six being in town by stopping them for a pre-fight drug test.
Roy Nelson (right), who will fight Antonio Silva (left) had a picture snapped with his opponent and heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos as they waited for, as Nelson put it, "results from our pee tests." Dos Santos will fight Alistair Overeem to defend his belt for the first time since winning it from Cain Velasquez.

Rashad Evans? mother gives sage advice about his UFC 145 bout with Jon Jones
Before Rashad Evans fights, his mother always gives him advice. He shared her latest wisdom with UFC cameras.
Shirley Ann Evans told Cagewriter in 2010 her son laughed off much of what she told him about his bout with Lyoto Machida, so he listened when she spoke up about Quinton Jackson.
"The last fight with Machida, the one he lost? I had warned him. I said, 'Rashad, Machida feels that if he has your mind he can win the fight.' Rashad thought that was so funny. I said he feels like he can conquer your spirit, and Rashad thought that was funny. I said it's a mental fight, and he thought I was so funny, and then he lost. And I look up, and he's telling someone on national TV, my mother warned me about the fight. I told him, Rashad, [Jackson's] coming to knock you the hell out. He's not playing with you. Look for every opportunity you can to give that to him. He wasn't laughing this time!"
When Evans listens to his mother, he wins. Do you think he'll be following her advice next Saturday?

Phil Davis ?happy? Rashad Evans poked holes in his game
When Phil Davis was put on the UFC's second Fox card against Rashad Evans, he knew the pressure was on. Not only did he need to keep his undefeated streak going, but he also needed to create an exciting bout for network fans tuning into the UFC for the first time.
The result? A fight dominated by Rashad Evans as Davis struggled to find a rhythm. Davis told the MMA Hour that he couldn't slow down in the bout, which ended up exhausting him.
"I got myself into one of the situations where you've got to go all out to get out of that, and put out a lot of energy," he said. "That kind of put me behind on momentum, and from there, Rashad was just the calmer guy. He eased into the fight better. More and more, I was trying to do more to gain momentum and he was just calm and collected."
It was the first loss of Davis' MMA career. He ended his NCAA wrestling career with a championship, so it's the first time Davis has lost in at least four years. A loss like that can shake a man, but Davis took a different view of it.
"I'm glad he poked holes in my game," he said. "Because now I can fix some of those holes and know where the No. 2 guy in the world is going to beat me. Now I have a benchmark. Losing is not the worst thing in the world. The worst thing in the world is not getting better. I'm glad I got that fight. I'm glad I got it twice, and I'm just real excited about where I'm at in my career."
While he waits for his next opponent, Davis is helping his friend and teammate, Dominick Cruz, coach on this season of "The Ultimate Fighter." At 27, he's still a young and exciting fighter who has plenty to learn about MMA. A newly refocused Davis should be a force to reckon with.

MMA Marketplace: A tiny championship belt for your little fighter doll
If one of your MMA dolls, erm, action figures has proven himself to be better than the rest, doesn't he deserve a championship belt? You're in luck. There is an Etsy store that can help you with that.
When one of your action figures wins the belt, all the other ones will yell, "I want my belt back!" or "I want B.J.'s belt!" They may even get on their knees to beg you for a title shot, but at some point you will have to make hard decisions on which doll gets the next chance to win the title.
Or, since they cost just $3, you can just buy a belt for every doll.

Reader Rants: Mo Lawal?s dismissal, the Anderson Silva/Chael Sonnen rematch, and an overweight fighter
Welcome to another edition of Reader Rants, where Cagereaders get their say. This week, though we're still in a Zuffa drought, you all had plenty of opinions to share.
On King Mo's release from Strikeforce after calling a commissioner a bad name on Twitter:
It was kind of ignorant for her to ask him if he knew how to read or write. Instead of being "funny" or "racist" she could have just plainly asked him if he read through the application----in particular the part with the question of taking different meds/steroids/drugs. -- David Feinblatt
He should have not lost his job. There have been a lot of worse things said on Twitter by Dana White and other UFC fighters. He'll get his job back. -- Angel D. Gutierrez-Ruiz
Nothing was commented on more than the Anderson Silva/Chael Sonnen rematch:
I believe the rematch will allow Sonnen to back up what he said about the first fight. Win it and give Silva the beating hes never experienced in the cage before. -- Larry Conley
I think just because of what happened in the last fight, Silva is coming very prepared. I don't see him losing any fight anytime soon. At least not to someone that he almost lost to in the past. Best believe is going be a war but Silva will be victorious. -- Ernesto Aguilera
I think Silva will win based on a couple of different reasons:
1. Silva was injured last time he fought Sonnen and probably should not have been fighting at all yet he still won after getting hammered for 4 rounds
2. Sonnen was on performance enhancing drugs (which got him banned from fighting for a year)
3. Silva has beaten down some of the best ground and pound guys in the world, some of whom Sonnen can't hold a candle to.
4. Silva has the best record in the UFC, which is not something that just happens... its earned through hard work and extreme talent
In the end, anything can happen in MMA. A slip, a swollen eye, even cutting weight all takes its toll. If I had to bet though, I would put my money on Anderson Silva. -- David Fish
Thiago Santos coming in 12 lbs. overweight for his Bellator title fight lost him a chance to win the tournament. What did readers think?
That's the right call. I initially read that the whole tournament was going to be scrapped. I'm glad that they didn't mess over Prindle because Santos couldn't make weight. Besides, he wasn't even close to making weight. -- Michael Stull
Guess that extra week wait was spent at the buffet. -- Jim Hammar

Tim Kennedy performs Katy Perry?s ?Part of Me?
Two videos were sent to Cagewriter in the past 12 hours. One was a Quinton "Rampage" Jackson video that tried to make a joke about rape by showing Jackson, the rapist in the video, get beat up when his intended target turned out to be a man. It was pointless, unfunny, beyond offensive, and not worth the time of Cagereaders.
Then this gem hit the internet, and it spoke to me. Do the wonderful readers of Cagewriter want to watch Strikeforce middleweight Tim Kennedy perform Katy Perry's song, "Part of Me?" Obviously, the answer is yes. It's five minutes, but worth it to see Kennedy's dancing.
He's been waiting for a fight for too long, but at least he's putting his time off to use. Hopefully, we'll see more of what Kennedy is capable of soon, both in and out of the cage.

Dana White?s video blog explains TUF and McCall/Johnson draw
Dana White's latest video blog answers many of your questions about the latest season "The Ultimate Fighter," including how last season's premiere was very different from how the rest of the season will run. You'll also see that the UFC championship belts are sharp.
It also takes you behind the scenes in Australia, including a dissection of the Ian McCall/Demetrious Johnson debacle. The two are expected to rematch at the TUF finale in June. You'll get to see White tell McCall and Johnson separately about the draw.
As always, plenty of NSFW language when White is involved.

Report: Geely announces $11 billion investment in Volvo
Filed under: China, Plants/Manufacturing, Volvo, Earnings/Financials, Geely
Volvo is poised to rapidly inflate its presence in China, and it believes the way forward is through an $11 billion spending plan. "We want to revive Volvo and give the brand its strength back," says Li Shufu, Chairman of Geely Automobile Holdings. Speaking with German magazine Wirtschafts Woche, Shufu disclosed that Geely will put up $11 billion for a new engine factory, increased research and development and technology upgrades. However, Volvo's Per-Ake Froberg tells Reuters that Volvo itself will be providing the funds through borrowing and other means. No matter where the funding comes from, the investment is meant to aggressively drive the Volvo brand in the Chinese market, where the Swedish brand sold about 50,000 cars last year. Geely wants Volvo to account for 20 percent of the premium car market in just three years(!) with a target of 200,000 vehicles for 2014. It's all part of an ambitious plan to double Volvo sales over the next ten years, and for its stewardship, Geely will get a new premium brand for China that uses Volvo tech and engineering. In addition, the two brands will be combining their purchasing power to get better deals from suppliers and small engine and electric vehicle development will also be shared between Volvo and Geely.
As the last Swedish brand standing, it's heartening to see that Geely has designs on increasing Volvo's sales. Here's hoping the recently voracious appetite for cars in the Chinese market doesn't shortchange American buyers looking for Nordic iron.
